The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) establishes a national policy to promote efforts that prevent or eliminate damage to the environment and enrich the understanding of ecological systems and natural resources. NEPA also establishes a Council on Environmental Quality. In accordance with the provisions of DOE guidance, the Remediation Services project has included NEPA procedural requirements in the RCRA process for assessing and cleaning up contaminated sites. In most cases, the primary instrument for this integration is the RFI/CMS process prescribed by RCRA. Statutory and Regulatory Framework |
