Critical Project Functions

PPC System

The ER PPC Team documents the technical scope of the cleanup effort at the Laboratory in the form of an integrated cost and schedule baseline. The PPC team leader reports directly to the ER program manager, and PPC personnel provide direct support to the ER program manager and project leaders.

The primary benefit of this support is the ability to use the system for project management functions, which include cost and schedule planning, project tracking, resource management, critical path analysis, what-if scenarios, and load leveling.

Each ER focus area is supported by a cost and schedule analyst who ensures consistency in level of detail, unit costs, and other items. The teams integrate information from their focus areas on a project-wide basis. The information consolidated by the project leaders is used for the current-year baseline, the five-year plan, and reporting to the program manager and DOE.

The three basic elements of the project control system are baseline development, performance reporting, and change control.

The ER Project has integrated its financial system with the Laboratory's financial management information system to encompass all cost elements needed by the ER Project for cost planning and reporting.
